It’s Oscar Time!
It’s awards season in Hollywood which is always an exciting time – honouring our favourite artists, both on & off screen, is an important part of the entertainment industry. Following the Golden Globes, the most anticipated show is, of course, the Academy Awards.
For the acting nominations, there are many familiar faces including Cate Blanchett with her seventh nomination, for “Carol”; Jennifer Lawrence, with her fourth nomination for “Joy”, as well as Kate Winslet for her role in “Steve Jobs”.
Popular actors include Leonardo DiCaprio with his fifth nomination (can he just win already?!) as well as Eddie Redmayne who is nominated for his role in “The Danish Girl”, however Will Smith didn’t receive a nomination despite his critically acclaimed performance in “Concussion”, and neither did Johnny Depp for “Black Mass”.
After winning Golden Globes in their respective categories, Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio are hot favourites to win at the Oscars – and who wouldn’t love our Titanic OTP to be recognised together?

Also included in the nomination list is the beautiful animated feature, Inside Out, which is already being used as a way to teach children about emotions and psychology – pretty cool, right?

The extremely popular seventh instalment of the Star Wars franchise, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” picked up five nominations in craft categories but didn’t crack a nomination for the Best Picture category.
